Geo chooses Magdalene as its outsourcing partner for network operations.
Independent telecom services provider, Magdalene, has been selected by leading fibre network solutions provider Geo to handle a fully managed service supporting Geo’s fibre network and ancillary infrastructure. The five-year collaborative partnership covers all phases of the network lifecycle - from initial needs definition through to project implementation, acceptance and network operations (first and second line maintenance and network monitoring).
Magdalene tendered for the outsourcing contract to manage all aspects of the 24/7 operations and maintenance of Geo’s network, competing with both the incumbent and other UK-based outsourcing players. Magdalene will be responsible for network monitoring, maintenance, evolution and protection activities as well as upgrading Geo’s GIS based records management system where all relevant details of the network can be accessed. This means that Geo can retain a high degree of flexibility in its operations and structure, allowing it to offer the widest range of bespoke infrastructure and dedicated optical network services to its customers.
“It’s a real kudos for Magdalene to have been selected by Geo as its outsourcing partner for network operations,” said Anthony Crane, managing director, Magdalene. “Throughout our working relationship with the Geo team, which goes back several years, we’ve always been strongly aligned with their vision - and we look forward to playing our part in their continued success.” .
A detailed transition project, governing all aspects of operational, commercial and personnel responsibilities, has been in place for the past six months and is now complete. Around 15 staff will be transferred to Magdalene to provide deeper understanding both of the network and of Geo’s customers. This will enable them to further develop their careers within Magdalene. A dedicated service fulfilment team will also ensure that committed service levels are achieved.
“The partnership with Magdalene is a natural evolution for Geo; they share a similar culture to us and provide customers with options that deliver competitive advantage to their business,” said Chris Smedley, co-founder and CEO of Geo. “Service fulfilment and exceptional customer satisfaction have always been at the heart of our business model and I know that Magdalene, who have a wealth of knowledge together with a well-established network operations and support capability that stretches across the whole of the UK, will only enhance the quality of service received by our customers.”
“The outsourcing of operations in a managed service model is a cornerstone of Magdalene’s strategy,” continued Crane, “and our partnership with Geo further enhances our position as a leading independent service provider in this field.”
